Today, I scared a red belt. I was judging a sparring match - my body was still tired from the double workout I gave it on Friday, and I think I had the beginning of a shin splint. All of a sudden, Dr. Link looked a me and singled me out to work with one of the red belts... while everyone else was watching. Well, I asked to get my gear on, and pulled out my mouthguard and my armpads before scaring the living bejeebers out of her, first by kihaping in her face, and then by chasing her around and whacking her with my feet.

Okay, it was pretty fun.

So that was 1:30 of pure adrenaline, and then I spent about eight minutes pumping her back up, because she's testing in two weeks and already has the jitters. During that time, I was going a mile a minute, and Dr. Link stopped by to encourage her.

Later, Susan said that I was "scary" because I had "good reflexes."

That's pretty encouraging, but I know the real truth - I'm still the klutz that walks into tables and gets random bruises while playing volleyball. I'm just a really loud klutz... I nailed her right between the legs a couple of times by accident... but I guess it was okay because 1) she's a girl and 2) I was padded up. But man, I was embarrassed.

I'll be otherwise occupied, but this looks like it'll be great fun.

You know, I think I need a martial arts icon of some kind.
