The Feast
I had a long weekend.  No, it was really, really long, even though it was only three days.  We had people over on Monday night, and we served:

  • 2 shoulders of pork (16 lbs, thank you, Costco)
  • potato salad
  • coleslaw
  • fruit salad (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, and red grapes)
  • green salad (romaine lettuce, raisins, almonds, cucumber, grape tomatoes)
  • biscuits
  • baked beans
  • green bean casserole
  • apple cake
  • banana bread
Someone else brought over fresh baked bread and yet another person brought over a jar of homemade jam.  Andy did the meat (thank goodness), but it was threatening to rain, so we didn't smoke the meat.  (He was very disappointed.)  We ended up slow cooking it in the oven.  The reason we decided to have that much meat was because at one point, we had about 20 people invited.

We also cleaned like crazy, and the public areas of our house are really clean, and the private areas... not so clean.  We're going to have to work on that.  Anyway, it was my first full on Southern style meal, and it went off well.  We're still both tired, though, and recovering slowly.  Phew.

In other news, I recorded a song called "Cubicle Gopher" and submitted it to the Quick Stop Entertainment contest.  I'm fairly sure I won't make it out of the first round, but I'll probably be asking all of you to vote vote vote ("like a baby stoat stoat stoat") for me when the time comes.

Joni calls me a nexus.  As I just hit 300 friends (and counting) on Facebook... okay, maybe I am a nexus.
